At the end of this event, the attendees would be comfortable working on large systems of design while maintaining consistency. Also, components and all their intricacies will be something they can easily find their way around.
Hosting a virtual design session allows everyone to take part in the session in real-time right from the comfort of their homes. Virtual sessions also bridge the gap of learning from members in other cities and further promote diversity without the hassles of travelling.
Working on a large project will be difficult and have so many inconsistent parts without the help of design components. In this event, we will dive deep into what components are and explain why they are important in every design process. We will talk about reusable elements in design and how they help in maintaining consistency throughout our design.
We will use “Navigation Bars” as a case study, looking at Top Navs, Bottom Navs, Sidebars and talk about cards that make this system invaluable. We will learn about Instances and component swap and show how we can build a large system while utilizing Figma components. I will also be showing some keyboard shortcuts and hacks to get around using components. Some minutes will be given to answering some of your questions, so yes come prepared to ask your questions.

Chukwuemeka Iheonye is a product designer that is deeply interested in human-computer interaction and an advocate of human-centred (users) design. He has experience working with startups from the Educational sector to the financial sector and has also worked with brands and government stakeholders such as NIBSS and Lagos State Government in proffering digital solutions to problems or critical issues. He is currently leading a team of designers at Software Business Consulting Solutions(SBSC) with the aim of impacting lives through design.
