This series will not only cover the ins and outs of Figma's interface and functionalities, but you will also learn various design principles that guide your design work to create beautiful and professional-looking digital products and experiences.

Part 1 (of 2) in our Designing with Figma series is geared towards complete beginners to Figma and/or UX design. In this session, join our speaker Helen Aquino, where we'll cover how to:

• Navigate Figma's interface
• Create frames, shapes, and text layers
• Design a simple app screen
• Set up and use plugins
• Apply visual design principles to create intuitive and accessibility-friendly interfaces

Each workshop in the series is tailored towards different experience levels—feel free to attend one or the other, or both.

About Helen:

Helen Aquino is a UX designer based in Calgary, designing mobile-first experiences and accessible interfaces. She is passionate about building community and promoting design thinking. In 2022, Helen co-founded ProtoJam: Alberta's first UX designathon, to foster Edmonton's design community and solve real-world challenges through design thinking and technology. Outside of design, Helen sings in youth choirs and professional-style ensembles throughout Alberta.
