In between, but towards the newbie side. I've used for a few small one-off projects just to try. And it was a while ago.
I have no direct/compelling personal need, primarily motivated to have it for PBL students to have an additional "tool in the toolbox."
No intention to trigger Figma folk, but I get similar vibes as Photoshop. Meaning that I know little, yet I'm aware that it's far more powerful than my meager use-cases. And like PS, I fear that I can do things as a one-off, but wont' retain the skills with such inconsistent use. #Confession
I love the honesty, though I'd push back on the "confession" framing. I see it as less of a confession and more the reality of teaching. You're asked to keep fluency in more tools than anyone ever should!
Thinking about Figma as a tool in the toolbox for your PBL students is a great idea! What kinds of projects are you picturing your students using it for?

Some experience but definitely shaded towards novice status for me.
Similar to Ray, my goal is to simple introduce various tools to kids who want to pick them up. Figma is going to overwhelm some kids, but it will light up the eyes of others.
I introduced Excalidraw last year and had a fairly good rate of adoption -- sketching ideas, planning, creating of images/documents/timelines. Figma feels like a step-up with respect to sophistication.

After teaching 8th grade science my entire career (20+years) I took a leap up to our high school to teach Computer Science- brand new to the content but managed my way through the first year.
Teaching a new elective this year- Web and App design and this seems to be a great tool for the kids. I also like the idea of using FigJam to create more engagment overall in all my classes. I am currently completing a Masters for teachers in CS so I'm learning a lot while trying to stay that step ahead of my students.
Being so new I'm just looking to grasp the basics to show students and them let them flourish as they normally do with their creativity and tech skills. Any direction for a rookie is much appreciated. Like Ray, I'm trying to find the time to practice and learn (and catch webinars!) to build that proficiency to share with students.
