About this event

Unite with fellow designers and creatives for an evening of prototyping with Figma Make!

Make-a-thon is an evening design sprint where you come in with an idea, and leave with something built. No prep required, no polished concept needed. Just show up ready to make something.

  • At the start of the event you’ll have the opportunity to form a 2-3 person team, or we can pair you up.

  • We'll kick off with a fun warm-up activity.

  • Then it’s off to the races! You have 1.5 hour to build something along the theme of "Absolutely Positively Wellington". You might solve a local problem, invent something new for the city, or celebrate your favourite spot.

  • Present your Makes for a chance to win a prize!

Who’s it for?

  • Anyone who likes to make digital things: students from any tertiary organisation, grads, and experienced pros. Product designers, brand and comms designers, researchers, and product managers.

  • Students get to build alongside people working in the industry, and seasoned pros pick up new tricks.

  • FoF Wellington is a friendly bunch, everyone's welcome!

Winners will be announced for the following categories:

  1. Most creative (batshit crazy)

  2. Funniest idea (it made us laugh out loud)

  3. Most practical (it's got legs)

  4. Most engaging presentation (encore, anyone?)
