Join us for FoF Toronto’s first in-person portfolio review event—created specifically for early-stage UX designers job seeking, career pivoting, or polishing up their portfolios for the next opportunity! ✨
🎨 We’ve lined up experienced mentors to give you specific, actionable feedback in collaborative 20-minute sessions. You’ll be matched with a mentor based on your registration details* so be as detailed as possible to make the most of your experience!
🪴 Whether you’re struggling with your storytelling, unsure how your work stacks up, or just need a second set of eyes before your next interview—this is your chance to get expert guidance in a casual, supportive setting.
We’ll kick off the night with some light refreshments and an opening keynote, led by the one and only Daniel Sanchez Griborio. In this powerful 30-minute session, he'll share his expert lens for reviewing work, why personality is your secret weapon, and how to craft a compelling narrative from even the most complex/ messy projects.
Reviews will happen in groups of 4 attendees and 1 mentor. This is where you’ll show your portfolio and get suggestions and advice specific to you and your goals! You’ll also get to observe others being reviewed and practice your design thinking on their portfolios too.
*Tickets to those who have been matched with a mentor will be sent out by end of day on November 3rd. Any later additions due to cancellations will receive their matches by November 10th at the latest.

Our portfolio review night is designed for early-stage UX designers, including students, career transitioners, and those looking to break into the field. We’ll help you understand how to build a good portfolio and make it a more effective tool for your job hunt and career growth.
Registration opens on October 27th at 11AM. To ensure the best possible match between mentors and attendees, all registrants will initially be placed on a waitlist. You’ll fill out a detailed form to help us understand your goals and portfolio needs. Once registration closes, we’ll carefully match attendees with mentors and send confirmation details on November 3rd to those who have secured a spot.
Prepare your portfolio like you’re preparing for a job interview! This event is for you to give and get feedback on work in progress. If there's something you can't figure out, now’s the chance to get more eyes on it!
The great thing about portfolios is that they’re always a work in progress. This event is about sharpening your craft by getting help and advice from people who’ve been in your shoes.
We’re inviting a broad set of senior designers to lead review groups. Reviewers come from design studios, banks, tech companies, and in-house teams. They have long-term, foundational experience across different roles and industries. We’ll release more details about which mentors will be at the event closer to the date!
For this round of portfolio reviews, we’ll be matching 60 attendees to 15 available mentors! While we want to invite everyone who signs up, we’ll be looking to prioritize space for attendees in the early stages of their career who can be matched with the right mentor.
If your plans change, please cancel your registration by November 7th so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist. This also gives our mentors enough time to review their newly assigned portfolios and prepare thoughtful feedback. Thank you for respecting our mentors' time and your fellow attendees' opportunity!
