About this event

Join us for a LIVE co-creation session as we map out the Content Design System Maturity Model—a framework to help teams assess where they are today and identify what it takes to grow their content practice within a design system.

This Craft Across session is an open workshop-style event where we’ll collaboratively define what “maturity” looks like for content in design systems—from starter checklists to full-scale integrated practices.

In this session, we'll co-create a Design System Maturity Model, focusing on the people, processes, tools, and impact of design systems from multiple perspectives. Whether you're just starting to think about design system standards, or managing a full design system infrastructure with guidelines, components, and testing workflows—this is your chance to shape a model that helps teams self-assess and grow.

We'll start from the ground up:

  • What does Level 1 of design system maturity look like?

  • What are the key checkpoints that unlock progress to Level 2 and beyond?

  • How do teams evolve from basic consistency to strategic impact?

What We'll Explore

  1. Defining Design System Maturity
What dimensions matter? We'll co-map axes like tooling, workflows, governance, reuse, and contribution across content, design, and engineering perspectives.

  2. Building a Practical Model
Together, we'll define 3–5 maturity levels that any team can use to self-assess and set growth targets.

  3. Cross-Functional System Intersections
How design tokens, components, guidelines, and system patterns align across content, design, and engineering disciplines.

  4. People, Roles & Rituals
What does a mature design system organization look like? And what does it take to get there from each perspective?

  5. Tools & Infrastructure
From Figma components to docs-as-code, AI-assisted workflows, component libraries, and review processes—how tooling evolves with maturity across all disciplines.

  6. Real-World Stories
We'll highlight patterns from teams actively building design system infrastructure across content, design, and engineering.
