About the book:
In a nutshell: It's about the chaotic collision of politics, media, and design - and figuring out the designer's role in all this mess.
Here's the full description if you want to dive deeper:
The Superstorm is a metaphor for how politics, entertainment, and media technologies have collided in our current information age. In this vortex, communication is hyper-mediated through algorithms, memes, and alternative realities. Politicians treat voters like customers. Social media users become trendsetters. And designers? We're stuck in the middle.
But Noemi Biasetton argues this uncertainty might be exactly what we need to rethink our role in the political sphere. She traces this evolution from the 1960s to today and proposes new ways for designers to navigate the chaos.
It's about understanding how we got here and what designers can do about it.
About the author:
Noemi Biasetton is a design researcher, writer, and editor based in Venice. She holds a PhD in Design Science from IUAV University of Venice and focuses on how design practices intersect with political discourse.
She is the author of SUPERSTORM: Design and Politics in the Age of Information and curator of the Bookcloud publishing series. Her work explores design cultures, visual representation, and their role in the social and political sphere.
